I paint what I love, documenting the things that have been important to me throughout my life. I grew up in the countryside of Japan and my paintings often attempt to capture the visual beauty of that country. My family now travels to Japan regularly and I have become reacquainted with the beauty of the mountains, trees, rivers, gardens, and flowers that I knew from my childhood. I love to paint these beautiful scenes that we are surrounded by. I also make portraits of my family, especially my children who are growing up fast. I try to capture their everyday moments and activities to remember the life we have together. I hope that my paintings will reflect the beauty of nature, the happiness of my family, and the calmness that I strive for.

Lately, I have been working on a series of paintings called “Fantastic Animals” (personified animals with historical fashion). I paint chickens, cats, dogs and other animals in a whimsical and playful manner.
